About the Author

Robert K. Wilhite, EdD is a Professor of Leadership, the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies at Concordia University Chicago and former Chair of the Department of Leadership. He is a retired Superintendent of Schools, as well as elementary, middle school, and high school principal, and associate superintendent for curriculum and instruction. He is coauthor of several RLE books to include Ethics and Politics in School Leadership, Transforming Professional Practice: A Framework for Effective Leadership, Supervision and Evaluation for Learning and Growth, The Teacher Leader: Core Competencies and Strategies for Effective Leadership and made numerous presentations at conferences in areas of leadership styles and curriculum development. He also currently serves on the Illinois Licensure Board, Principal and Superintendent Review Panels, evaluating the design of university principal and superintendent preparation programs in Illinois. Jeffrey T. Brierton, PhD is an Associate Professor of Leadership at Concordia University Chicago. He is a former teacher, administrator, and high school principal, who received a BA degree in political science from Elmhurst College, an MA degree in political science from Roosevelt University, a MSEd from Northern Illinois University, an EdS from National Louis University, and a PhD in American History from Loyola University. Dr. Brierton teaches leadership courses and is a university supervisor for the CUC principal internship program. He is also a retired ten-year veteran of the US Army Reserve. He is coauthor of the book, Ethics and Politics in School Leadership by Rowman and Littlefield. Craig A. Schilling, EdD is an Associate Professor of Educational Leadership at Concordia University Chicago. He has been a public school administrator, systems analyst and CEO. He has consulted with numerous school districts and has spoken and presented throughout the United States, Australia, Canada and the Caribbean. He is a past president of the Illinois Association of School Business Officials. He has received numerous awards for his contributions to the field of school business management. He is coauthor of the books, School Resource Management: Optimizing Fiscal, Facilities, and Human Resources, and Human Resource Management and Collective Bargaining, Leading School Change and, The Teacher Leader: Core Competencies and Strategies for Effective Leadership, all by published by Rowman and Littlefield. Daniel R. Tomal, PhD is a Distinguished Professor of Leadership at Concordia University Chicago and has published twenty books (several with RLE) and over two hundred articles and studies. He has testified before the United States Congress and has consulted for numerous schools and organizations. He is a former school administrator, high school teacher, and corporate consultant. He has made guest appearances on many national and local television and radio shows such as CBS This Morning, NBC Cover to Cover, ABC, CBS This Morning, Les Brown, Joan Rivers, Chicago Talks, etc.
