One major development is a change in terminology. In 2004, The Academy or Certification for Vision Rehabilitation and Education Professionals (ACVREP), the certifying body for rehabilitation teachers, changed the professional designation from rehabilitation teacher to vision rehabilitation therapist. This new edition also benefits from the significant increase in technology resources as well as advances in research since 1996.
