We suspect that our e-reader friends are hesitant to come to
our "Free" bookclubs or feel uncomfortable because they are not buying old fashion books anymore. It is not a secret that we at Kona Stories feel strongly about the survival of the hard copy books. However, we also want the conversation about books to continue regardless of how you choose to read. We believe that most of our e-reader friends want this community bookstore to survive. We have some thoughts (big surprise!) if you are an e-reader. Please continue to shop at Kona Stories for your greeting cards and consider us first when buying a gift. Come to our bookclubs; we will put out a donation jar for those wanting to give back a little. $5 - $7 isn't much, but it tells us that you appreciate us and it helps us buy supplies, feed the cats, pay the staff and mostly gives us hope that our store will still be here next year. We want you to know that we love this bookstore and we believe it adds value to our community. If you believe this too let us know!

Our next book will be Zami: A New Spelling of My Name by Audre Lorde. From the author's vivid childhood memories in Harlem to her coming of age in the late 1950s, Lorde brings into play her craft of lush description and characterization.
