Book Groups and more.
Just the Facts: our non-fiction book group.
These are the books that the guys will like, too! This month we're reading River of Doubt: Theodore Roosevelt's Darkest Journey by Candice Millard. At once an incredible adventure narrative and a penetrating biographical portrait, "The River of Doubt" is the true story of Theodore Roosevelt's harrowing exploration of one of the most dangerous rivers on Earth. Come join us in a lively discussion.
Event Info Tuesday, August 23rd 6pm
Second Tuesday: our fiction book group.
Home by Marilynne Robinson is the topic for the next meeting of this group. The Pulitzer Prize-winning author of "Gilead" pens a moving and healing book about families, family secrets, and the passing of the generations. I really enjoyed one of her earlier works Houskeeping; join us to discuss the most recent work of one of America's best modern novelists.

Our Lesbian group:
We'll be doing inventory next month and will have to skip this group. Sorry; we really would rather be watching a movie with you! Our next book will be Zami: A New Spelling of My Name by Audre Lorde. From the author's vivid childhood memories in Harlem to her coming of age in the late 1950s, Lorde brings into play her craft of lush description and characterization.
