Just the Facts: Tuesday, March 22 @ 5pm

On Tuesday our non-fiction group, "Just the Facts" will discuss Whole Earth Discipline over a pizza from Bianelli's. There's an interesting chapter on nuclear power that should make for a lively discussion in light of the on-going disaster in Japan.  Come join us at 5pm.

Open Mic: Saturday, March 26 from 3-5pm 

 Come participate in the Hawai'i Island Writers Association Open Mic event in the Keauhou Courtyard. Bring an excerpt of your own original written work for a 7 to 10 minute reading or just come and listen.  All genres are welcome to share, but no profanity, religion or politics.  Talk Story before and after. The special guest this month will be Denny Gregor, author and raconteur from the Big Island.

Words & Wine: We have three authors lined-up for our next Words & Wine.  Joining us will be: Bill Engle, author of Legacy of District 22, a one-room school in Wayne County, Nebraska; Holit Bat-Etit, author of Wells, Water & Women: Rebekah's Twelve Tribes, and Trish Doyle, author of Be Not Afraid, Only Believe. You can meet these delightful people AND have pupus and wine onTuesday April 5th at 6pm.

 

Doreen VirtueDoreen Virtue: Will do Angel Readings in a very special workshop on Saturday April 16th from 3 to 5 pm.  She will do as many individual readings as time allows and then lead a guided meditation to allow you to do your own reading.  This workshop is sure to fill-up fast.  Only $35.  Call 324-0350 to sign-up.  Following the workshop, Doreen's band Obsidian will perform a free concert in the Keauhou Shopping Center courtyard.

 "Just the Facts" is reading The Whole Earth Discipline by Stewart BrandWith a combination of scientific rigor and passionate advocacy, Brand shows exactly where the sources of environmental dilemmas lie and offers a bold and inventive set of policies and solutions for creating a more sustainable society. We will meet Tuesday, March 22 @ 5pm.   

 

We now have a Game Night! Game NightFriday March 25 at 6pm.  This is a very informal gathering: bring your favorite game or just play what's on hand. Bring your favorite nacho topping to build your own nachos.

 

The "Second Tuesday Book Club" is reading Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese; an enthralling family saga of Africa and America, fathers and sons, doctors and patients, exile and home.  We will discuss Tues, April 12 @ 6:30pm.

Parallel Lies by Stella Duffy will be the topic of discussion at our next Lesbian group meeting on Tues. April 19 @ 6:30. 
In this novel the fear of scandal threatens Hollywood's top leading lady when celebrity and sexuality collide in image obsessed Tinsel Town.
