Movies & Book Groups at Kona Stories
"Just the Facts" is reading One Bullet Away by Nathaniel Fick.  We will meet this Tuesday, November 23 at 6:30pm. In this deeply thoughtful account of what it's like to fight on today's front lines, Fick reveals the crushing pressure on young leaders in combat.

Our fiction group, "The Second Tuesday Book Club" will meet on Tuesday December 14th @ 6:30pm for a Holiday party.  We'll be discussing our favorite books and making suggestions for titles to read in 2011.  Bring a pupu and come to the party.

Our next Lesbian Group meeting will be Tues, Dec. 21 @ 6:30.  We will discuss The Stone Gods by Jeanette Winterson.  Ursula K. LeGuin says:  "The Stone Gods is a vivid, cautionary tale - or, more precisely, a keen lament for our irremediably incautious species."

Aloha!
We're very excited about the Grinch coming for photo ops in the Store AND he's agreed to ride with us in the Kailua-Kona Christmas parade!  Keiki Area
Here's a photo of our new keiki section; it's loaded with all kinds of things that Santa has asked us to store for him: books, toys, puppets and more..

Grinch
It's almost time for the Grinch!

Yes, Kona Stories has a special relationship with the Grinch who stole Christmas.  But, we promise, it's the Grinch AFTER his heart grew big...

It won't pinch to have your photo with the Grinch.

Keiki and Adults are invited;

Kona Stories is excited;

Your camera or ours, let's hear it

Come and get some Holiday Spirit.

Our first "Words & Wine"!

We're hosting a 'First Tuesday' author event on Tues. Dec 7 @ 6pm.  Local authors will join us to talk story; we'll have some pupus and refreshments and fun.  Joining us will be:

  • Paul Csige has written "The Symphony of Leif".  Paul is probably best known for his successful adaptation of the book "Voyage: The Discovery of Hawaii" by renowned historian and artist Herb Kawainui Kane into an award winning feature film, Voyagers. This is his first novel
  • John Rees has just published his second horror novel, Halocline.   Into the depths of madness Rees takes us on a journey to hell and back again.  His first book is The Anoxic Zone.
  • Duke & Nancy Kell:  are partners in every aspect of life and will be talking about their new novel The Point of Origin"The answers to most of our questions have always been there, but our failure to connect the dots could mean the destruction of the human race."
