 We are Moving to Keauhou Shopping Center!

Yes, it's true; Kona Stories is leaving Mango Court and moving
to the Keauhou Shopping Center. |
|
Why are we moving?
|
Bottom line: we just aren't making enough money to make a
go of it at Mango Court. We've tried everything we can to improve things here, but there are just not enough people buying enough stuff from us.
On the positive side: the poor economy means there are some great deals at premium locations. At Keauhou we will be in the courtyard area with other retailers. This should mean that people who come by will be in a 'shopping' frame of mind.

How you can help:
|
- Tell your friends about our move and our moving sale! Maybe even forward this e-mail (link below).
- Boxes: We can use boxes to pack books in. No larger than 18"long x 15"wide x 10"high, please (because books get heavy).
- If you have books on consignment with us, you need to come in and pick them up by October 15.
- Packing Party! We plan to have a three day packing party when we're ready to go. Dates and more on this in our next e-mail.
- Come to our moving sale! Many, many, many great books at half price.
- Come see us at Keauhou next month!
- Tell your friends and visitors that they can find their local, independent and charming bookstore and booksellers and at Keauhou beginning in November.

Some questions you might have... and some answers.
|
 What about the cats? We plan to move Barnes, Noble and Shadow with us, but they will have to be inside cats at Keauhou, so we're not sure how they'll adapt. We will keep you updated on how they like their new home.
Won't you miss Mango Court? Very much! We love the space we created here, our beautiful lanai and our great neighbors, but if you can't pay the bills... Plus, you can be sure that we will do our best to make our new space at Keauhou just as charming, friendly and interesting as our store at Mango Court.
Haven't you heard: the management at Keauhou is awful? Yes, we heard, but the management company changed two years ago. The new property manager Kristin Bastian and the new company Colliers is working hard to improve the shopping center and work with the merchants. In addition, the owners of the property now have a dedicated asset manager on-site to ensure good communications and a clear strategy for the center. We feel good about the current environment at Keauhou Shopping Center.
Will your events and book clubs continue? Yes. We will continue all our book groups and most of our events. However, we will not be able to do bodywork sessions like Qi Gong or Feldenchris.
Hasn't the addition of Annie's helped your business? A bit, but not enough. I can't tell you how many times the entire top parking lot has been full with not one customer in our store. People buying groceries and eating out haven't translated into sales at Kona Stories.

We have many people we'd like to thank for helping us along so far, but
I've gone on for long enough this time. We'll include them with an
update or two on our move over the next month, so stay tuned. Meanwhile, let me just say: we are sincerely thankful for you, our many supportive and loyal customers.
