Movies & Book Groups at Kona Stories
| | For the Community Sustainability meeting on Tuesday Oct. 4th at 6:30pm, we will watch the movie The Next Industrial Revolution. Taking nature's operating system as their model, an architect and chemist lead the design revolution to transform industry, products and buildings.
Our next book for "The Second Tuesday" fiction book group is Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout. This Pulitizer Prize winning book offers profound insights into the human
condition--its conflicts, tragedies, and joys. Strout constructs her
stories with rich irony and moments of genuine surprise and intense
emotion" ("USA Today") We will discuss Tues Oct 12 @ 6:30pm.
We will watch a movie of Lesbian short films at our next Lesbian group meeting on Tuesday October 19 at 6:30pm.
"Just the Facts" is reading One Bullet Away by Nathaniel Fick. We will meet to discuss on Tuesday, October 26 at 6:30pm. Fick unveils the process that makes Marine officers
such legendary leaders and shares his hard-won insights into the
differences between military ideals and military practice.

New Writing Class: STEIN ON WRITING Writers of every stripe are invited to join the "Stein on Writing Group" at Kona Stories.
Bill McCowatt  | Sol Stein edited and published such outstanding writers as James Baldwin, David Frost, Elia Kzan and Dylan Thomas and many others. He is also the author of nine novels including The Magician, which sold over one million copies. This tightly focused writing class will be moderated by writing enthusiast Bill McCowatt. They will meet every Thursday at 6pm for 12 weeks to listen and learn from the audio-book Stein on Writing. Disciplined discussion and readings will follow..

Lastly, regarding apostrophes: my apologies to those of you who were bothered by my use of
"Sunday's" (with an apostrophe) in our last e-mail. I assure you that
it was an error of oversight and not of ignorance. You might be
interested in the new book from Lynne Truss, author of Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Girl's Like Spaghetti.
As for Brenda and I, I'm afraid one of our very worst skills is
proofreading, so you'll probably continue to spot errors like this from
time to time. Just try to remember that we each have many other
redeeming characteristics...
