Mindt, Alex PDF Print E-mail

In the 1990s, Alex Mindt set off on a journey to discover America. He went to every corner of the country, driving the back roads, the thoroughfares and freeways. He worked with rail men, masons, and carpenters in the Midwest, itinerant children in the rural south, movie studio execs, and the homeless in Los Angeles, upper crust old money families of New England, public housing advocates in the Northwest, and wayward teens in Harlem. Along the way, he made a feature film that ran for two years on Showtime, co-wrote, produced and directed a play that premiered in Los Angeles on the night of the Rodney King riots, published several stories, won a Pushcart Prize, had two kids, became a stay-at-home dad, and finally sat down to write a book, Male of the Species-the chronicle of the fathers he met and the country he discovered.
