The Spiritual Art of Living and Dying Public Talk Saturday August 18, 2007 1pm at Kona Stories Free Lecture: Phillip Jones, MA, LMHC, local author, will speak on and read from his newly published book Light on Death: The Spiritual Art of Dying (Mandala Publishing 2007) The author will use stories from the Vedas of India as well as his experiences as a hospice spiritual counselor, family therapist and pilgrimage leader to show how ordinary people can gain extraordinary insight during life's 'dark nights of the soul,' especially the dying process. He will also share personal experiences from his life as a Hindu monk for 17 years. During his monastic life Phillip traveled to India to learn the ancient wisdom of India, and subsequently he traveled nationwide to monasteries, mosques, synagogues, churches, temples and Native American reservations to learn the teachings of the world's great religions.
