Janice Crowl, a freelance writer, is author of Container Gardening in Hawaii: How to Grow Paradise in a Pot, Mutual Publishing, 2007.

A master gardener with the Hawai'i Island Master Gardener Association, University of Hawai'i at Manoa Cooperative Extension Service, she has taught garden-based curricula to promote literacy, nutrition, and environmental stewardship through school gardens and community gardens in Hawai'i and the San Francisco Bay Area.

She grew up on the leeward side of O'ahu and the windward side of the Big Island and currently resides in Hilo.

Her children's book will be published by Bishop Museum Press in 2008.
