Snapshot collector and project editor of Snapshots of a Century in African American Lives, Jennifer Cain Bohrnstedt is a published historian. With curiosity about visual history, her natural enthusiasm for the ‘unsung,’ unappreciated snapshots nearing loss or destruction, parallels the subjects of her narrative and documentary history books. Unrecognized heroes and heroines of history are those who have caught her attention over years of research.
Jennifer holds both Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Indiana University and certification and adult and vocational education from California State University, San Bernardino. After interviewing President Ford in 1999, Jennifer received a grant from the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library Endowment where she has conducted research on immigrant history and Ford’s legacies. She also is an instructor for the Osher Living Learning Institute.
Her books include: Views From My Schoolroom Window, and Civil War books: While Father Is Away and Soldiering with Sherman. Snapshots of a Century in the West, a prototype for this work, accompanied a two-month art exhibit for the city of Palm Desert, California. Jennifer lives primarily in the Midwest, travels extensively, and is a seasoned speaker to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. She can be contacted through
