Chaffee K. Castleton

Mrs. Chaffee K. Castleton, was born in Portland, Oregon. She got her B.A. at Mills College, then attuned the University of Munich in Germany, where she had adventures in boating, mountain climbing and skiing. She traveled all over the world writing about her adventures. She lived in East Africa for 4 months and fell in love with those animals. She also worked for the Red Cross in Korea. In 1948 she married Henry Castleton, a concert violinist, and had one daughter, Julia. She also wrote poetry for the Christian Science Monitor and had a weekly travel column in the Van Nuys News. During these same years she was a drama critic and a film reviewer for several Southern California newspapers. She had a life-long love for animals and this was her last writing.
