Qi Gong with Sifu John

What is Qigong? Qigong is a method of exercise that has been used by the Chinese pople for thousands of years to promote health and longevity. In Chinses, gong means work and qi is vital energy. Qigong is the art of working on's vital energy through acu-meridians. This aids in releasing blockages and extablishing a smooth flow of qi through the body.

 

The Eight Pieces of Brocade is a set of movements practiced slowly and calmly, emabling areas of the body to open and release stagnated qi. This aids the body in healing self. Regular practice of qigong will manifest one or more of the following: Reduce tension, Relax muscles, Strengthen bones, Increase blood circulation, Activate the immune system, Regulate the breath, Calm the mind, Unify body, mind and spirit.

This Qigong class will be taught by John W. Adams, L.Ac. This introductory class is appropriate for all levels and will focus on the eight pieces of Brocade Qigong. You will work on regulation of the body, the breath and the mind. Class fee is $50.00 per month or $15.00 drop in.

john_adamsWho is John W. Adams? John began his study of Taijiquan in 1982 with Master Choy Kam Man of San Francisco, and his senior students. In 1989 John was certified to teach the Traditional Yang Style of Taijiquan by Master Choy. John also graduated from the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley, California, that year. He received certification in Acupressure and Zen Shiatsu and returned to a private practice in Fairbanks, Alaska, where he offered sessions, lessons and classes in the healing arts. John's qigong training also began in 1982 with the learning of The Eight Pieces of Brocade. In 1988 John began his study of Soaring Crane Qigong under the guidance of Master Zhao Xin Xiang and Chen Hui Xien. In 1992 John was certified by Master Zhao to teach Soaring Crane Qigong. In August, 1999, John graduated from The International Institute of Chinese Medicine in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with a Masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. He returned to Fairbanks and continued his private practice until moving to the Big Island in 2003.
