Learn all about the Adult APAGAR, a self-scoring instrument designed to help people assess your Wellness status.  Dr. Shay Bintliff, the creator of the device, will discuss the origin of this test and then discuss each of the five components, using personal experience as an Emergency medicine specialist working side by side with many burned-out physicians and other medical personal.

What most people do not realize is that what they think of as Wellness, ie, weight, blood pressure, diet, cholesterol, etc., is only one of the components in the scoring of the Adult APGAR.  how one deals with emotions, their life's priorities, person growth (spiritual and emotional) and reaching out for help when in need are four very  important components that contribute to our well-being.  The scoring modeled after the neonatal APGAR, with 2 points for each of the five items scored, a 10 being a perfect score.  Those with a score of 5 or less are in need of significant changes and possibly professional help.

Don't miss this very important FREE lecture that could drastically improve your HEALTH!

"Lesbian Fiction Group" This new group is a woman identified group
reading fiction titles by lesbian authors, or stories about lesbian
women.

This group meets the 3rd Tuesday evening on the Lanai at Kona Stories at 6:30 PM.

Discussing in March is "Lesbian Cowboy's" by Sacchi Green.

Fifteen writers share their take on the phenomenon of Cowboys -- a calling, a vocation, and a status that has nothing to do with gender. Whether in the old west or the Australian outback, New England or the Great Plains, these girls and their horses work hard, play hard, and love hard. Contributors Radclyffe and Jove Bell depict the rough and tumble world of female rodeo riders, while Cheyenne Blue explores cattle ranching and the new environmentalism, and Delilah Devlin writes about a "Hired Hand" who may be a woman, but is more than a match for any man. Sexy, steamy, and crackling with the energy of a wild filly, these stories represent the cutting edge of lesbian cowboy fiction..

Reverend Dana St. Claire and Reverend Scott Larson

Retreat fee is $25.00 per person or $35.00 per couple....pre registration at Kona Stories required.

Juicy #1 - Talk Story

"Dana and I have been together 28 years and we're only half way through our honeymoon!" Reverend Scott.

"It pays to choose to be amused, rather than annoyed by your partner's shortcomings.” Reverend Dana.

The most important relationship we'll ever have is the one we can never divorce.

Focused on our own highest good we attract only the best life has to offer.  Loving ourselves more each day, drama and conflict just whither away.  It's all about our choices.  Let’s talk story on those choices we can make that keep us alive and thriving ~ inside ourselves and in our relationships.

Juicy #2 - The Cube

The Cube is recognized as an ancient Sufi teaching tool that surfaces again and again throughout human history where and when the soul most wants to experience itself.

It begins simply:

"The Desert.  Imagine a desert landscape.  It is utterly simple.  A horizon line.  Sand.  Sky."

The insightful magic, of course, is in the meanings of what we ‘imagine.’  The Cube is a delightful teacher.  Most of our relationship issues, with ourselves and with others, are like the booming voice of the wizard in The Wizard of Oz.  The drama sounds so convincing it leaves us trembling like the Tin Man.  The Cube is like Toto, it ‘pulls back the curtain’ and reveals a new glimpse of reality.

Juicy #3 - Lunch

What's a retreat without food!

You may bring your own, buy from Island Naturals deli, or enjoy Kainaliu's newest eatery, Annie's Burgers, right next door.  Annie's dining room has a fabulous view, their staff is delightful, and the menu is filled with fresh island goodies.  I like their sweet potato fries and crispy sweet onion rings!

Juicy #4 - Guided Meditation enhanced with tones of ancient temple bowl gongs.

This is the time to anchor deep within our newest insights and understandings.

This is the time to embrace deep and abiding self kindness and savor the sweet surrender into appreciation.

This is a retreat ~
so we’ll be laughing out loud,
deepening within,
enjoying multiple "aha" moments,
mouth wateringly good food,
and your fine company.

You’ll receive a complimentary Meditation CD ~
Your ally, as you continue to soar long after our time together.
This CD is specially designed to further deepen into your perfect relationship
with yourself and your loved ones.

The more our consciousness is filled with loving self kindness
and appreciation,
the more love fills our life.

"Don't Pet the Sharks" is Kona Lowell's newest book...this book signing is sure to be a blast!

"Don't Pet the Sharks" is the humorous, sometimes snarky, sometimes whimsical and occasionally touching long-overdue follow-up to "The Solid Green Birthday and Other Fables".  Focusing more on the every day life on the Big Island of Hawaii, Kona Loweel applies his economical style to everything from birds that seem to have forgotten how to fly ("Hawaii: Island of Ridiculous Running Birds") to creepy otherworld experiences ("The Thing in the Jungle") to bizarre, unexplained traffic ("The Town That Eats Cars").  Lowell also tackles politics, cats, technology, religion, women, aging and the unquestioned insanity of life in his quick, insightful way.  There are sixty-one pieces in all, making this an entertaining, diverse and yet unforgettable read.

Each month on the 1st Tuesday afternoon at 3 PM this group meets to watch a spiritual film or discuss a book.

In May this group will be viewing and discussing the film “Mind Walk”. Mindwalk is a 1990 feature film directed by Bernt Amadeus Capra, based on his own short story, based in turn on the book The Turning Point by his brother Fritjof Capra, the author of the book The Tao of Physics.

The majority of the movie is a conversation among three characters: a Norwegian scientist, Sonia Hoffman (played by Liv Ullmann), "the only woman in my department, the first in Norway doing quantum field theory"; an American politician and former presidential candidate, Jack Edwards (played by Sam Waterston); and poet Thomas Harriman (played by John Heard), a former political speechwriter, as they wander around Mont Saint Michel, France. The movie serves as an introduction to systems theory and systems thinking, while insights into modern physical theories such as quantum mechanics and particle physics are also given.

This event will be focused on our ancestors who, like us, have lived through good times as well as through challenges and have now moved on. Yet from the inter-life state, many maintain a compassionate concern for members of their kin groups related to them through blood or marriage. We will utilize the shamanic method to reconnect with an ancestor who loves us. Hank will also be available to sign copies of his books including his newest: Awakening to the Spirit World: The Shamanic Path of Direct Revelation (co-authored with Sandra Ingerman) that includes a free experiential CD.
